All industrial machinery vibrates. The level of vibration is a useful guide to machine condition. Poor balance, misalignment and looseness of the structure will cause the vibration level to go up, a sure sign that maintenance is needed. ISO standard 2372 recommends measurement of vibration severity as most suitable for general industrial purposes. They also define limit values for common types of machinery. By comparing the measured vibration severity with the norm for the machine class, it is possible to judge the condition in terms of good, acceptable or bad. Regular readings will show the development trend of the vibration level and thus the urgency of the maintenance problem; stable condition, slow or fast deterioration. VIB-10 is a sturdy, battery-powered instrument, based on ISO standards, for use by personnel without special training in vibration monitoring. It is very easy to use: attach the transducer to the machine, press the button. The RMS value of vibration velocity is displayed directly in large, red LED digits. Features include automatic switch-off and a shock absorbing protection sleeve of oil resistant rubber.
Each unit includes: Vibrameter with batteries and instruction manual, measuring cable, follow-up forms (mm/sec), vibration transducer, magnetic base, holding screws, probe, carrying case

VIB-20 measures vibration severity in mm/s RMS according to ISO 2954. It has two adjustable trigger levels, each connected to a separate, voltage free relay output (220V/100VA). ALERT has a continuous range of 2 - 20mm/s. It can be set to trigger an alarm when general wear and minor defects have increased machine vibration to a level where maintenance is needed. ALARM is safeguard against dangerous vibration caused by damage or sudden out of balance. At a selected level (1-3 times the preset ALERT value) it will trigger an external warning and/or automatic machine stop. Suitable alarm levels can be chosen following ISO 2372 (BS 4675/1,VDI 2506) The ANALOG output supplies 4 - 20mA, proportional to the measured vibration. The scaling of the current is controlled by the preset ALERT value. When the measured vibration equals the alert value, the output is always 12mA. VIB-20 is encased in a water and dustproof polyester box and can be installed directly on or near the machine. The transducer, TRV-01, is normally mounted on the rotor bearing housing and connected via a low-noise coaxial cable with a maximum length 10 meters.
